Rip! A Remix Manifesto is a documentary about copyright. The author mad a documentary about how copyright is effecting peoples lives. I think the film was a little bias because if the author made the film about say picture copyright I don't think it would have made that big of an impact. The author thinks that copyrighting music should not be illegal. He thinks being able to use a small piece of music to create something of your own should be okay.
The film shows bias, well because he made it all about people having to pay to use songs, not on how the original artists feels about other people "stealing" and using their songs to make money and music. The author is making the film on how it is wrong for artists to make people pay for using their songs. When the author was making this film he already was totally against copyright so he didn't argue both sides, he only said copyright was bad and being able to use songs/pictures by other people for your own pleasure is good. He used very little examples of copyright being good not bad. he only showed that copyright is bad not good.
My opinion on this film is that the filmmaker is right. I think the author of this film is making a great argument. Copyright should not be illegal because for example Girl Talk is making his own personal remix. Yes he may be using small sections of other peoples work but he isn't fully copying the original songs, he makes them his own. I could understand companies wanting someone to pay a reasonable amount to use the whole song but when companies want people to pay a huge amount for a small chunk of a song is honestly a little ridiculous and unfair. Copyright should be legal to an extent (at least more legal than it is now).
